If you've been following this blog for any length of time, you probably already know that I've been preaching the low-sodium gospel. Since I started reading nutrition labels, I've been forced into the fresh food sections of the grocery store as well as the low-sodium section of the spice aisle. I've lost 40 pounds, feel great, and lowered my blood pressure to normal levels.
If this is your first time here, you can read my previous posts here, here, here, and here
Restaurants were nearly out of the question until now. Just wanted to tell you about a new restaurant in town Bang Bang Mongolian Grill. Several things set this restaurant apart from other "Mongolian grills". Things like:
- A full soup and salad bar vs. the traditional "build it" line to put together your stir fry.
- A fajita station. Go get your stir fry on and then make it Mexican with chips, warm tortillas, fresh guacamole, salsa, sour cream, and an awesome white queso dip.
- A full bar with 17 signature drinks. I'd highly recommend all of them, just not all at once.
- Fresh veggies
- and a whole lot more...
The thing that impressed me the most: The dry seasonings are all freshly ground. What does that mean? Most dry seasonings have salt added to them as a preservative. Not at Bang Bang. You can put together a tasty, robustly seasoned dish with the only sodium being that which naturally occurs in your meats and vegetables. You can get one kick-a** meal with less sodium than you'd get in a McDonald's double cheeseburger, no fries, and a glass of water.
Which would you rather have for lunch?
